Wonder begins from Auggie's point of view, but soon switches to include the perspectives of his classmates, his sister, her boyfriend, and others. These voices converge to portray a community as it struggles with differences, and challenges readers, both young and old, to wonder about the true nature of empathy, compassion, acceptance, friendship, and—ultimately—kindness. Wonder has been a New York Times bestseller for over 5 years in a row with over weeks as 1. The movie Wonder is scheduled to be released on November 17th, Palacio's debut novel so remarkable, and so lovely, is the uncommon generosity with which she tells Auggie's story…The result is a beautiful, funny and sometimes sob-making story of quiet transformation. Growing up is tough. One of the toughest days in our lives is arguably the first day of school. Try to remember that day; when you were young, naive, maybe nervous, with little idea of what was going on. You are leaving the safe and familiar arms of your parents and family, as you begin your life in a world of strangers. Some miss their parents so greatly, that they spend their entire first day crying. Others struggle far beyond the first day, actually having a tough time all their years spent at school. Wonder offers the reader a quick peek into the life of a young boy, born with a psychical deformation.
