Sex and the City is a critically acclaimed show that has remained popular for over 20 years. It follows the lives of four single women as they deal with relationships, jobs, children, fashion, and — of course — sex in New York City. Alternatively, you could buy the full DVD box set. Samantha is a proud, successful women who refuses to be tied down by just one man, whilst Charlotte wants nothing more than to find true love and get married.
The series often featured frank discussions about romance and sexuality. A sequel to the film, titled Sex and the City 2 ,  was released in to similar commercial success but even larger critical failure. A third film was announced in December , but in September , Parker confirmed that it was not going to happen. Carrie walks through the streets of New York City thinking about events that have happened to her and her friends. Charlotte is now happily married to Harry, but since they have trouble conceiving, they adopted a Chinese girl named Lily; Miranda has settled down in Brooklyn with Steve to raise their son Brady together; and Samantha has relocated her business to Los Angeles to be close to Smith, who is now a superstar, although she takes every opportunity to fly East to be with Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte.
I 'm not asking for much. I just don't want to be sick in my mouth. I don't want to be filled with despair at Hollywood's increasing inability to conceive of women in comedic films as anything other than self-obsessed babies with breasts. And I don't, most of all, want to spend two hours watching dreams and memories from my youth being trampled into humiliating self-parody. Is that too much to ask? Judging from the hideous trailer and even more hideous scenes that have been leaked on the web, yes, all this is just beyond the capabilities of the pink-fringed, cliche-ridden, materialistic, misogynistic, borderline racist Sex and the City 2.

While the TV series is still considered a pioneering TV classic, the movies more or less hit a roadblock after the second film. Their instincts were right, as we all remember. After several years and numerous Emmy wins, the show became a phenomenon on its own, basically becoming larger than the initial book. You can sort of compare it to the Game of Thrones of the day where the show ended up running away from the book. Once Sex in the City ended in , the endless copycats and the immediate reruns themselves helped spur interest in the idea feature films could expand on the iconic characters and their NYC adventures. To date, the Sex and the City movie adaptations are part of a small group of HBO media properties made into movies.
