The latter measures range, IQR, and MAD are introduced in Data About Us but, in this Investigation, students have extensive exposure to what it means to make sense of data distributions using their analyses of variability vs. Informal introductions to both sample and population are also provided in anticipation of the more formal introduction found in Investigation 2.
