The Work and the Glory: The Complete Series, Volumes 1-9

It tells the story of the fictional Steed family in the s and their struggles trying to adopt the new Mormon religion , and it explores their relationship with their community, with its founder, Joseph Smith and the rest of the Smith family. This movie is based on the first novel by Gerald N. Lund in the nine-part The Work and the Glory series. The first novel is titled Pillar of Light and so the film is sometimes given that prefix Pillar of Light: The Work and the Glory , but the prefix does not appear anywhere in the film itself. Benjamin, the father, hires two local boys, Joseph and Hyrum Smith, recommended by Martin Harris , a prominent figure of the Latter Day Saint movement. Joseph and Hyrum are hard workers but eschewed by some town members, who are put off by Joseph's claims of seeing a vision , Hyrum's belief in his brother's vision and that Joseph will receive a "Gold Bible.

The Work and the Glory is a nine-part novel series by Gerald N. It chronicles the birth and early growth of Mormonism through the fictional Steed family. The Steeds, throughout the series, meet and come to know many of the prominent early Church members well.
